Simone is one of the sweetest little ladies in her neighborhood. Although she’s in her 90’s, her friends, neighbors, and family say she is one of the most spry senior citizens they know. She’s in great shape physically and mentally.
So when the police rolled up to her house one day and escorted her to their patrol car, you can imagine how shocked everyone must have been.
As Officer Doody from the Augusta, Maine, police department gently led her from her house to the patrol car, Simone’s daughter Ann was there to take in the entire scene.

The look on Simone’s face, Anne says, was priceless. So why was Simone being taken to the patrol car? Because she is a huge fan of the show “Cops” and Anne convinced the police department to arrest her for her 93rd birthday.
Officer Doody “arrested” Simone and gave her the full experience just like the people she watches on the television show. Then she got to sit up front and even push the siren button.
“She goes on and on about how the police have the worst job and what they have to deal with,” said Anne. “She wondered what it would be like to be arrested and sit in the back seat.” Well, now she knows!

After Simone was done checking out the police car, she gave Officer Doody a big hug and he gave her an authentic Augusta Police Department Junior Officer decal.
Anne called the event “momentous” and Simone says it “made my life.” Anne shared the photos on Facebook with a big thank you to the APD. Thankfully, Simone wasn’t really carted off to jail, but it will definitely be a birthday that she’ll never forget!

What an amazing experience for Simone and what a gift for the police department to give. Be sure to share this heartwarming story with your family and friends.
