The Sonoma Sheriff’s Department in Santa Rosa, California, recently shared on social media a touching moment when their Transportation Unit took one of the inmates to visit his dying mother.
The family of the inmate took pictures of the interaction between the inmate, his mother, and law enforcement officials and shared it with the Sheriff’s Department who then shared it with the public.
Their post said, “His family sent us these pics we took with them and wanted us to share with everyone. What a great experience…really touching.”

It’s easy to see in the pics that the mother and son’s faces are both glowing with happiness, and the moment didn’t go unnoticed by other people in the community.
Many people commented on the post to social media saying that the inmate was a good guy that made a bad decision and thanked the department for being compassionate.

Such a beautiful moment reminds us that compassion can change the world for everyone, including people who have made a few mistakes but are trying their best to have a bright future.
