When you hear the words “I’m sorry” it usually is a sign that something isn’t right. When one U.K. family heard the words from their doctor six years ago, the words didn’t have the same meaning for them.
The couple had already welcomed a little boy named Finlay into the world and they wanted to try for another child. Jodi, Finlay’s mother, suffered from a miscarriage after his birth, so she desperately wanted to avoid another tragedy if she were to become pregnant again.
When she finally did find out she was expecting, naturally she was nervous before her first check up. She and her husband, Matt, saw the baby’s heartbeat and squeezed each other’s hands. Then they received additional news. Jodi was pregnant with twin girls.

However, the girls were born six weeks premature, and that isn’t it. The doctor informed them that the girls had Down’s Syndrome. One could only hear out of one ear and the other had a hole in her heart.
This wasn’t something the couple had anticipated and the news was devastating. But it didn’t take long before their outlook completely changed. They still say they don’t know what the doctors were apologizing for.

Their daughters are a huge blessing in their lives, according to Matt and Jodi, and they wouldn’t want them any other way. Caring for them hasn’t always been easy, but they have embraced every moment of it.
The twins are now six-years-old and go to a mainstream school. Matt and Jodi have learned to take each day as it happens. They want people to know that we’re all more fortunate than we think, even if the situation isn’t the definition of perfection.

What an amazing outlook to have on life! Be sure to share this heartwarming story with your family and friends. We all need a boost every once in a while.
