Believe it or not, it’s been forty years since the release of the classic movie Grease, and to celebrate the occasion, the film’s stars just reunited for a screening at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills, California.
On the red carpet, stars John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John opened up about how the hit movie impacted the industry as a whole, what they’re doing now and if they keep in touch. You’ll be happy to know that the two are just as close as they were when they filmed the movie!

“Grease changed people’s lives emotionally,” John said with a smile. “It inspired people to become performers, it marked people falling in love – I know it by the letters I get and encounters I have.”
Olivia completely agreed with John.
“We did something life-changing, making that film,” she said. “[At the premiere] you got the feeling from the energy that something was happening. It was a huge response. I feel grateful to be a part of that and to have worked with him. We’ve stayed friends ever since.”

John said that Olivia was his shoulder to cry on as they dealt with the craziness that came after the premiere.
“When you share that kind of meteoric success – and nothing has been able to exceed it – you share a bond,” he said. “I’ve been through her having a child, getting divorced, losing her sister. She’s been through my getting married, having children. It’s wonderful and full of shared memories.”
It’s nice to hear that these two stars still keep a close friendship despite the many years now that have passed since the movie Grease was first released in 1978.
