When you see a stroller at the park, there is typically a child inside it being pushed around by his doting mother. However, a jogger recently caught sight of an empty stroller in a park that had him looking closer at it to try and figure out what was going on, and what he saw has since gone viral.
Digital producer Doug Delony was recently out jogging in Houston’s Discovery Green park when he came upon a man pushing an empty baby carriage. He captured a photo of the man kneeling next to the stroller, and the image has since gone viral.
“Most afternoons I take a run through Discovery Green, and most afternoons I see this guy with a stroller but no baby,” Doug wrote when he shared the photo on Facebook. “He brings this beautiful… what appears to be… disabled pup to the park. He lets it sit in the grass and take in the smell and the sound. Here he is giving it water out of a small cup he brings with him. An adorable dog and a nice guy- God bless ’em.”

The man has since been identified as Troy Griffin, who lives in an apartment across the street from the park. His aging Sheltie Max has lost the ability to walk because of arthritis, but Troy does not want him to miss out on the fun of being outside. That’s why he uses the baby stroller to get Max the outdoor time that he needs!
“He’s part of our family,” Troy explained. “He’s my best friend. He’s taught me life lessons that I will never forget.”
Max is the equivalent of 112 years-old in human years, and he is blind in one eye with a cataract in the other. Despite all his health issues, however, Troy and his wife Edie are refusing to give up on him.
“But I don’t think you should just turn your back on someone just because they’re elderly,” Edie said. “I think they deserve our love and our care and our attention. And there is so much we can learn from them even as they get older.”
We applaud this couple for continuing to take such good care of their elderly dog! SHARE this story so your friends and family can see this as well!
