For some lucky safari tourists, their dreams came true when they were relaxing after a long hot day near the pool. It seemed like a normal day, until they had some very unexpected, wild visitors.

As the tourists were relaxing, an entire herd of elephants came up to the pool and freshened up by drinking directly from the swimming pool. They were hot and tired too after all.

In some of these countries, it can be hours or longer before a wild animal comes across a place to get a drink. So when these wild elephants saw a pool at the Somalisa Tent Camp in Hwange NP, Zimbabwe, they didn’t hesitate to stop.

Over a dozen elephants walk up to quench their thirst as the shocked safari tourists sit back and revel in their good luck. They were so close to the elephants that they could have reached out and touched them.

The elephants seem relatively calm, and we’re guessing they’re used to seeing tourists all the time. Although they are wild, they roamed freely around the campsite and made themselves at home.

This isn’t the only time that elephants have done something like this. At a hotel at Kruger National Park in South Africa, some hotel guests were shocked when three bull elephants turned up at their private pool for a drink.

It is amazing to see elephants acting so relaxed around humans considering that ivory poaching is still alive and well. But for an elephant lover, a situation like either of these would be absolutely amazing.
