Dogs are playful creatures who love nothing more than making new friends. Sadly, finding playmates was a lot harder for this dog Linguini than it typically was for other canines.

When this family first adopted Linguini, they had no idea that he was different from other dogs. Though he seemed playful and loving, they soon noticed that he was much clumsier than other dogs. They finally got him tested after noticing that he kept bumping into things, and it was only then that they found out that he was blind.

Linguini refused to let his disability hold him back from being a normal, happy dog!

“Most people, including some vets, would never guess he’s blind as he’s so adaptive to his surroundings and intelligent in how he navigates the world,” his owner Sarah Bowley said. “He has never let it hold him back and does everything that our other dogs do. In fact, he may be the bravest one out of all of them!”

Linguini is so friendly that he would become intensely excited whenever he met another dog. Sadly, this intense excitement was too much for most dogs to handle, and they tried to stay away from him.

“He can’t see them and so when he finally realizes they’re there — he’s beside himself with excitement.” Sarah explained. “I think it startles or surprises them when he’ll suddenly realize there’s a friend around and start jumping up on them and trying to play. Because he’s blind but also super energetic, he tends to just jump up with paws outstretched and I think it’s a little much for other dogs as a first encounter.”

Just when Linguini had lost all hope of ever finding a playmate, he met his new brother, Future!

Sarah immediately noticed that Future was intelligent and empathetic, so she hoped he would be a good playmate for Linguini. Sure enough, the two dogs became inseparable as soon as they met!

“This was amazing to see as I felt like Linguini never really got to play like this with other dogs as they always seemed a little uneasy around him or he was too energetic for them,” Sarah said.

Linguini and Future were so close from the get-go that it was as if they had known each other for their entire lives!

They now spend virtually every moment with each other, playing together, napping together, and lounging around until they can play again! Future has become a guide dog of sorts for Linguini, who takes all his cues from his fellow canine and mimics his behavior.

“I think for Linguini, Future solidified this idea that he is just like any other dog and that being blind doesn’t have to hold him back in any way,” Sarah said.

We’re so glad to see that Linguini finally has the best friend that he needs! SHARE this story so your friends and family can see this as well!
