Ron Hyde is an Air Force veteran from El Cajon, California who was recently brought to his knees by the kindness and generosity that was shown to him by complete strangers.

After deciding to stop his chemotherapy treatments, Ron was preparing for his final days. Though he was hoping to enjoy his last days in his “dream home,” his apartment was virtually empty, containing only an old mattress, a lamp, a small side table, a bar stool, and empty shelves.

“Nobody wants to think they are scared of anything, but you know, in the end, we’re all scared, you know, what’s at the end?” said Ron.

The veteran at least wanted something comfortable to sit on, so he went to his local Goodwill center to buy an old pink recliner for $25. This presented him with another problem, as he had no car to get his chair back to his apartment in.

When a woman named Laura found out that Ron needed help, she immediately took to Facebook to see if anyone could do anything for him. Her post quickly went viral, and numerous members of the community started asking if they could donate furniture to Ron.

Ron was completely overwhelmed when total strangers showed up at his apartment with a whole truck full of furniture and other items, even bringing a television and DVDs for him to watch!

“The compassion came by the truck-load,” said reporter Hannah Mullins. “It gripped Ron’s heart so much, he had to walk away.”

We applaud this community for helping a veteran when he needed them most! Watch Ron’s reaction in the video below, and SHARE this story so your friends and family can see this as well!
