The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, or so the saying goes. And when it comes to Prince George and his father, Prince William, the old saying is exceptionally accurate.

A new portrait of Prince George was released last Sunday on his fifth birthday, and the youngster bears a striking  resemblance to his father at the same age, even down to his outfit.

The father and son share the same adorable smile and shaggy blonde hair, but the outfits chosen for the day are nearly identical too! They both sported a white button up shirt with blue piping on the collars and sleeves paired with matching blue shorts.

Prince William wore his version of this outfit for Prince Harry’s christening in 1984 and again during a family trip to Venice, Italy in 1985. William was only about three when the photos were taken.

The white shirt and blue shorts outfit isn’t the only time that Prince George has rolled out in the same style as his father. In 2015, he arrived at his sister, Princess Charlotte’s, christening in a red and white embroidered top and red shorts.

His father wore nearly the exact same look decades before when visiting his new brother at St. Mary’s Hospital in 1984. It would appear that although his mother may be the fashionista of the family, Prince George is clearly taking after his father.

What do you think? Are you as smitten by these vintage looks as we are? Be sure to share these photos with your family and friends to brighten their day.
