Regardless of what species they are, it’s every mother’s worst nightmare to be separated from her young child. Luckily for the mother in this video, a Good Samaritan is on hand to reunite her with her child just when she was starting to think that all hope was lost!

The young foal in the footage had somehow gotten separated from his horse mother and ended up wandering onto a highway, where he promptly got stuck. The baby walked up and down the highway, narrowly missing being hit by cars as they whizzed by him.

Just when it seemed like the foal was definitely going to get hit, one passerby decided to stop and do whatever he could to save the baby.

The man could see the foal’s mother looking on helplessly from the side of the highway, clearly feeling powerless to save her baby! It’s likely that the foal had managed to squeeze under the sidebars of the highway, and then forgot how to get back to his mother, who was too large to get under the side rails herself.

With the side rails in between them, the mother and foal could only look at each other helplessly, trying desperately to find a way to reunite. The man knows that horses are especially protective of their young, so getting too close to them could be dangerous. However, he also knew that not acting fast would soon result in the foal being hit by a car, so he had to do something.

Approaching the horse carefully, the man picked him up when he got to him. The mother horse watched as the man lifted her baby over the fence and reunited them!
