During the Super Bowl in 1979, Pittsburgh Steelers star “Mean” Joe Greene starred in a Coca-Cola commercial with a 9 year-old fan. Now, nearly 40 years later, the two have reunited!
Greene met with the now grown-up Tommy Okon at the Apogee Stadium in Denton, Texas. As they talked to each other, Greene remembered drinking 18 bottles of coke in order to get the scene done perfectly.

When Greene was asked about why the commercial was so popular, he pointed at Okon, who immediately disagreed.
“I don’t know about that,” he says, “I think the people that created it wrote a great commercial that really tells a story… that commercial’s kind of what Joe is: tough, football player, who’s a nice guy.”

Greene was stunned to see how much Okon has grown.
“No way,” Greene says as he walked up to Okon. “It’s great to see you. My God, look at you. I don’t need to look down here anymore!”

Greene is widely regarded as one of the most dominant NFL players of all time, and he has places in both the Pro Football Hall of Fame and the College Football Hall of Fame.

The reunion was emotional for both Greene and Okon. The NFL star explained that the commercial is “still special after all these years.”
It’s so nice to see these two be reunited after so many decades! Check out their reunion in the video below, and SHARE this story so that your friends and family can see this as well!
