When a UPS driver just happened to be in the path of a funeral procession, he didn’t think twice about stepping out of his vehicle and paying his respects. It was, after all, the funeral procession for fallen police officer, Captain Paul Phillips.
But his act of respect didn’t go unnoticed by others in the procession. The family members of the police officer noticed his gesture and appreciated it so much that one member of the procession took a photo and shared it on social media.
Haley Smith says she took a photo of the UPS driver and posted it to social media. The reaction the photo got was more than she ever expected. The local news station even got word of the deed and followed the story.

Captain Paul Phillips had served for the Barlett, Tennessee, Police Department for 25 years. He died on July 11 and was clearly special to a lot of people. While the UPS driver may not have known Phillips personally, he knew the officer deserved respect and that’s exactly what he gave him.
The UPS driver was later identified as Aaron Smith, who also lives in Bartlett. He heard about the passing of the officer and when he saw the funeral going through he knew it must have been for the officer.

We hope this inspires other people to do the right thing and show their respect to those that deserve it like Captain Phillips. This is proof that even small acts can inspire people and make a huge difference. Be sure to share this amazing story of respect with your family and friends.
