As parents, we should lead by example and teach our children the difference between right and wrong. Unfortunately, some parents don’t do any of that. In fact, they teach their children all the wrong things.
One family recently got caught allowing their child to do something at a restaurant that most parents wouldn’t even dream of letting their child do. They allowed him to steal the tip off the table that had been left for the waitress.
The waitress stated she had seated the family and didn’t pick up her tip from the table of customers who had just left. She wasn’t worried and planned to pick it up later. When she returned to take the family’s order, she saw that the tip was gone.

She assumed the money had just fallen behind a menu, but when the family finished eating and left, the money was nowhere to be found. She and the manager decided to look over the security camera footage and were shocked with what they found.
The video shows one of the children putting her coloring sheet over the money and at one point she holds the money up, but the mom pretends not to see it. Eventually the child picks up the money and pockets it. Clearly the mother saw what her child was doing and allowed it.
Our Place Restaurant owner, Benji Arslanovaski, was angry about what he saw on the video. He said if his son had done the same thing he would have told him to put it back down, but this mother never did that. Still, he wasn’t willing to let the family get away with what they had done.

If they were going to steal, he was going to call them out on it. He posted the video on Facebook knowing that someone would recognize the family and let them know they would get caught. He also hoped that they would come forward, bring the money back, and make things right.
“Our rule is if you make it right, we delete our post off Facebook,” said Arslanovaski. He says this isn’t the first time incidents like that have happened. They’ve had eight such incidents where tips were stolen or people simply walked out without paying their bill.

He feels that publicly shaming them is more effective and better than calling the police. He also feels that the police have more important things to handle, so he chooses to take care of these incidents himself. He says several people have thanked him for not calling the police and instead, allowing them to make it right.
What do you think about his tactic? If people would just stop taking things that don’t belong to them, they wouldn’t have to worry about either type of consequence. Share this story and video with your friends and see what they think.
