The little pug in this photo has committed a serious crime: running away from home! Now, the Cape May Police Department in New Jersey is letting her know that crime does not pay.

When officers were called about a delinquent pug, they did not hesitate to take action. The pug had ran away from home and been stirring up trouble in her neighborhood, so officers immediately went about capturing her.

“Our officer went down and found the dog, picked her up and brought her back to the station,” a police spokesman said.

When the pug was brought to the station, officers gave her a very special mugshot, or should we say, pugshot!

“They decided to take her mugshot to get her picture out on social media in kind of a humorous way. We wanted to find the owner because at that point we had no idea who the owner was,” the police spokesman added.

The pug even ended up in her very own jail cell!

Photos of the pug went viral, and thanks to the efforts of these officers, the dog’s owners were found!

“We use social media a lot,” said the spokesman. “It’s a great way to reach a lot of people. You can reach a ton of people. It’s a great way for us to get investigative leads. And sure enough, someone who saw the Facebook post knew the dog’s owner and got in touch with them. We were able to reunite the dog and her owner. Everyone found it funny, but it ended up finding the owner for us.”

The pug, whose name is Bean, has now finally been reunited with her owner! We’re sure that she’ll think twice before she commits another crime by running away again!
