People who are intellectually disabled face many challenges in life, and one of the hardest things for them can be dealing with closed minded people who do not want to see them succeed. While many of us love to see people with special needs thrive, not everyone feels the same way about them.

The show “What Would You Do?” with John Quinones recently decided to look into this by seeing how a restaurant full of people would react to seeing a man with special needs be mistreated. They hired an actor to berate an intellectually disabled man who was also acting, and they wanted to see if people would rush to defend the man with special needs, or allow the man to keep on yelling at him.

National Down Syndrome Society and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) states that one of 700 babies born in the U.S. will have Down syndrome. This means that over 6,000 babies are born with this in the United States every year. Since this chromosomal condition is so common, many resources have been allocated to ensure that those who suffer from it will have everything they need to succeed in life.

Even with all the love and support people with Down syndrome have been given, there are still closed minded people in the world who spew hate at them.

In the video below, you’ll see a man with Down syndrome sit down at a restaurant and wait for a waitress to take his order. That’s when another man spoke up and began verbally harassing the man with special needs.
