Many of us love dogs more than anything, but it takes a very special type of person to volunteer to take in a blind dog. The woman in this story ended up actually adopting two blind dogs, and she certainly has no regrets about that after what happened next!

DD is a young woman who recently began searching for a dog to adopt. She had no plans to adopt a blind dog, until she laid eyes on Abi!

“I wasn’t planning on adopting a special needs dog. I’d never actually been around a special needs dog before,” DD said. “But during the search, I found Abi. There wasn’t any backstory. It was just a picture of a smiling, little no-eyed dog.”

Abi was apprehensive at first, but she soon settled into her forever home after seeing all the love her family was giving her! Though it takes her a little longer to adapt than other dogs, Abi is fiercely independent and once she has figured out her surroundings, there is no stopping her!

Soon after adopting Abi, DD’s brother asked her if she would want to take in another blind dog named Duke that lived in Michigan. Though she had no plans to adopt another dog, DD knew Abi wanted a friend, so she decided to take Duke in as well!

Abi and Duke have since become best friends, and they are now completely inseparable! They compliment each other well, as Abi is more curious and energized while Duke is more calm and relaxed.

Duke and Abi have gone on many adventures together, and they do not let their disability hold them back from exploring the world!
