When a couple first finds out they are expecting a baby, the first emotions are typically joy and elation. However, this can quickly turn to fear as they start to realize how many things can happen during pregnancy that don’t quite go according to plan.
Routine ultrasound appointments can often turn into anything but that as parents are given the last news that they were expecting. Sometimes they are told that they are expecting two babies instead of one, other times they are even told that they are expecting quadruplets! The parents in this story, however, were given a very different kind of surprise at their “routine” ultrasound.
Their unborn baby had been unusually active, kicking his mother day and night. What he did next, however, left even seasoned doctors stunned.
Lucy Bearley and her partner Stuart Barrett could not wait to see their child when they went in for their 28 week ultrasound. This was their first child, so even the smallest of milestones felt huge to them.
Doctors were not surprised when the baby proved hard to track down during the ultrasound, since he had been so active. However, it’s what he was doing when they did finally find him that shocked them.
When they found the baby, he was doing the impossible: he was waving at them! He clearly wanted his mommy and daddy to know how excited he was to meet them! The technician had never seen anything like this before in her entire career.
Video of the child waving went viral, and the description of footage read, “These expectant parents had the shock of their lives when their unborn baby turned to face the camera and waved at them during an ultrasound scan. The magical moment was caught on camera during a 4D scan and clearly shows the tiny fetus waving before turning his head to face his mummy and daddy and say a proper hello.”
Lucy and Stuart seem to have one friendly and extroverted baby on their hands!
