Not very many people look forward to going to the doctor, especially if the visit involves a baby or toddler. You have to stop everything at home, load up a bag and the car seat, and then sit in the waiting room for what seems like forever.

Then when you get back to a room, you have to calm your child while they get poked and prodded by someone they don’t know very well. For one mom, though, she was expecting a fight at the doctor’s office when she took her son, and what happened was exactly the opposite.

The nurse began checking her son’s vital signs, and as she listened to his little heartbeat, this little guy responded much different than her average patient. Instead of shrinking away from the cold stethoscope, he smiled intently at her and then leaned his head over and laid it on the nurse’s arm.

Her warm skin and calm demeanor was all this baby needed to forget the strange room and scary appointment. This is proof that nurses are some of the most unsung heroes in healthcare. At least this one had the power to turn what could have been an awful visit into a cuddlefest instead.
