Meghan Markle has brought plenty of controversy to the royal family since her wedding to Prince Harry in May. Unfortunately, it is now one of Prince Charles’ friends who has decided to criticize Markle by making statements about her wedding gown and her family.
Nicky Haslam, 78, has been a friend of the royal family for years. He was born to one of Queen Victoria’s goddaughters, socialized with Princess Diana, worked for Prince Charles, and has sang for the Queen herself.
Haslam is a successful interior designer and British socialite who has now used his status to launch an astonishing verbal attack on Prince Harry’s wife. Harry has condemned the press in the past for its abuse of his girlfriend and now wife.

Haslam criticized the £200,000 bridal gown made by Claire Waight Keller who says took no less than eight fittings to create. The dress designer stated Meghan was very upfront from the start about how she wanted the gown to look.
The dress featured pure lines and an open bateau neckline that framed Meghan’s shoulders. The train draped in soft folds with a triple silk organza underskirt. The silk for the dress was sourced after intense research across Europe. Her veil contained the floral symbols of all 53 countries of the Commonwealth.

Even though, Haslam said he didn’t like her wedding gown and said it didn’t fit well. He says it seemed to be made of concrete and should have been made of thinner material.
He also attacked Meghan’s family, particularly her father Thomas, and said that it was actually a good thing that he wasn’t in attendance at the wedding. “They’re frightfully common,” said Haslam. “It would have been awful if that huge lump had been there. The royals probably don’t quite know how to deal with them.”

The one good thing Haslam did have to say about Meghan’s family was his praise of Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland, who was in attendance at the wedding after flying from the U.S. to the UK. “One person who wasn’t common was her mother,” said Haslam.
