When terminally ill patients are told that they are dying, they all handle the news differently. Most of them go into shocked as they are faced with their own mortality.

When Bobby Lynn Brockman was given the news, he did not think of himself at all. Instead, he immediately thought about what would happen to his “kids.”

Bobby has prostate cancer, and though he was able to fight the cancer into remission for a year, it came back with a vengeance. When it returned, the cancer came back to his mouth and bones this time.

Bobby had to have his tongue removed, and he underwent 110 radiation treatments and 12 rounds of chemotherapy. Though he did all of that, doctors still saw no improvement in his condition.

“There is no cure for it, there’s no cure,” Bobby said. “They sent me home with pain medication and gave me a hospital bed.”

Coming to terms with the fact that he was dying, Bobby went about trying to secure the future of his kids.

You should know that when Bobby talks about his kids, he is talking about his dogs.

Bobby is not married, and he lives alone with his three small dogs and four large dogs. One of his larger dogs just had puppies, and another is pregnant. Bobby is determined to use what time he has left to find homes for his dogs.

“It would mean everything in the world to know they’re going to be happy and have someone love them and take care of them,” he said.

Adopt A Rescued Friend has since stepped in to try and help Bobby in this endeavor.

“We’ve got to find a way to help him, we’ve just got to,” Karen Wakefield from the organization said. “We just want to help him have some peace of mind and be at peace.”

We hope and pray that Bobby’s dogs find the loving homes they deserve!
