Etiquette experts have revealed why Prince Harry and his new bride, Meghan Markle, have seemingly quit holding hands at official royal engagements since becoming husband and wife. The duo was previously known for being quite hands on, but that has changed since their wedding.
Experts say that there is no official royal protocol against couples holding hands, but says they likely feel the need to appear more professional now that they are married. They speculate that Meghan may also feel more confident in her role.
They also suspect that Prince Harry feels less of a need to hold Meghan’s hand because she may feel less emotional and need less physical support from her husband. Holding hands in public, although not against the rules, is still not considered professional behavior.

Prince Harry’s brother, Prince William, and his wife, Kate Middleton are also more traditional when it comes to public displays of affection. They seem to be much more reserved with their affection and emotions when in public.
Public displays of affection, such as holding hands, is much more accepted in social spheres and private situations, but is rarely seen in public by married royal couples. Even the Queen and Prince of Wales rarely show affection towards one another.

The opinion of etiquette experts came to light after people noticed that Prince Harry seemed to shun his wife’s efforts to hold his hand at the Young Leaders Reception at Buckingham Palace. Luckily, it appears that it is quite normal and not an indication of strife between the duo.
