Nancy Bleuer is a kindergarten teacher from Iowa. She adores her students and does everything she can to make her students happy. But one day she noticed that one little boy in her class wasn’t acting like his usual self.
She could tell that something was really wrong with four-year-old student, Camden, so she decided to have a little chat with him. Sadly, he began telling her about his father and how sick he was. Nancy knew immediately that she had to try to help.

Camden’s father, 34-year-old Darreld Peterson was very sick. Nancy worried how her student was being affected by his dad’s illness so she decided to give Darreld a call. She found out that his kidneys were only functioning at 20 percent of their capacity.
Something was seriously wrong with his kidneys and while undergoing dialysis he looked so sick that it had scared little Camden. Nancy knew she wanted to help the family, but she went above and beyond than just lending a helping hand.

Nancy went and got tested to see if she was a match so she could donate one of her kidneys to Camden’s dad. Miraculously, she was a perfect match. She explained that she was ecstatic and so excited to be able to share her gift with the family.
Camden’s dad was shocked with Nancy’s offer. She would, after all, be saving his life. Darreld says that people every day are waiting for a kidney and not all of them are as lucky as he was. “She’s giving me a second chance at life,” Darreld says.
