It’s crazy to think that people have to be warned not to mess around with wild animals, especially when it comes to the king of the jungle. But below you will see a video of a tourist attempting to pat a lion from the inside of a car.

The video was shot inside of Tanzania’s Serengeti National Park and has earned already over one million views. Wildlife Sightings, who published the video, says it isn’t uncommon for a lion to seek shelter in the shade of a vehicle, but that doesn’t mean that they trust the people inside.

One South African safari ranger says that the lion has the power to tear off a person’s arm, and could even pull them out of the window and kill them in front of their friends. Luckily for the guy in the video, neither happened.

At first the animal doesn’t react much to being touched, but after a few seconds he turns and bares his teeth then lets out a big roar. That definitely gets the tourists’ attention and he quickly shuts the window in fear.

One park ranger admitted that the lion could have crashed its way through the window and torn into the people inside of the vehicle. He says they were lucky that they got away with it. Animals who attack people would likely have to be put down.

The National Park Services says this should serve as a reminder that visitors should never touch or taunt a wild animal. If an animal is forced to move away from you, you’re already too close. They say never attempt to approach an animal and if they approach you, carefully back away and stay a safe distance of at least 100 yards.

Check out the video below of the man attempting to touch the lion and be sure to share it with your friends.
