There’s nothing quite like seeing an unlikely friendship between two animals that are different species. This week, a video is going viral showing a dog and a dolphin who become fast friends, and it’s sure to melt your heart! Lucy and Gus may be an unlikely pair, but they sure do hit it off pretty quickly!

It all started when Eileen McGunagle went out on a charter trip through the waters near Captiva Island in Southwest Florida. On her voyage, Eileen was accompanied by charter company owner, Cliff Gilchrist and his lovable pup Lucy. The latter is a 3-year-old Rottweiler-Husky mix who spends her days working as Cliff’s first mate and sailing buddy.

Though Lucy is a dog who lives on the land, she loves nothing more than being in the water! Her favorite thing about being in the ocean is making friends with the creatures who live beneath the surface. In the video below, you’ll see Lucy spot a dolphin in the water and dangle her head over the boat to say hello.

Before long, Lucy and the dolphin, who has been named Gus, are playing the most adorable game of hide and seek ever! Lucy ends up jumping into the water to play with her new friend, and the two seem to be having a blast together!
