Prince Harry finally set rumors straight during post-award drinks after the Queen’s Young Leaders Awards Ceremony. When the Duke was questioned about his recent honeymoon, he revealed that he and his new bride, Meghan Markle, did not go to Namibia like some had speculated. He was asked by Mavis Elias, a young philanthropist from the African nation, if they had visited her country to which he replied, “No, we didn’t go to Namibia. I’m not going to say where.” So we know where they didn’t go, but the duo is remaining tight lipped about where their honeymoon destination was.
Harry and Meghan also talked to an award winner from Lesotho. Reekelitsoe Molapo, 23, describes the moment she got to meet the Queen. She said that to have the Queen honor your work is amazing and described it as the most awesome experience in her life. She also said that after talking to Harry and Meghan she feels that they are the right people to continue the work in the Commonwealth. “Most people can relate to them,” she said. “They are part of our generation.”
The new Duke and Duchess also spoke to Priscilla Ruzibuka, 27, from Rwanda, who set up a children’s clothing project. She says they spoke about how much they loved Rwanda and said they have the highest portion of women in the parliament at 56 percent. Prince Harry and Markle expressed that they look forward to visiting Rwanda one day.
It sounds like Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are off to a great start and have already touched the lives of several of the people they have met. Be sure to share their progress with your family and friends.
