Dogs are often called man’s best friends because of how loyal they are to humans. Since they are also very intelligent, dogs can be used to fight crime, lead the blind and even warn their owners of health ailments.

Now, an amazing video is going viral showing a police dog who goes above and beyond to save his fallen partner.

The Madrid Police Department recently posted a video to social media showing a police dog named Poncho leaping to action to save the life of his owner. The video has already been viewed over two million times, and people all over the world are calling Poncho a hero.

The footage shows Poncho, who works for Policía de Madrid, administering CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) to his beloved officer partner. As soon as he sees that his partner has gone down, Poncho runs over to rescue him. Without hesitating, the dog jumps up and down on his chest over and over again. Poncho then lays his ears close to his partner’s mouth to see if he is breathing.

Finally, the officer is revived, and the crowd of onlookers cheers for Poncho’s efforts.

This video may have been a demonstration, but it still shows that dogs can do some truly amazing things!

“Heroic performance of our #Compañerosde4Patas Poncho, who did not hesitate for an instant to ‘Save the Life’ of the agent, practicing #RCP in a magisterial way,” the Madrid police force wrote alongside the video. “The dog is the only being in the world that will love you more than you love yourself.”
