A royal expert is speaking out this week to slam Meghan Markle for leaving a “trail of devastation” behind her when she left the royal family last year.

The Express reported that royal author Duncan Larcombe hit out at Meghan for her birthday video earlier this month, saying that she instead should be “spending her time trying to build bridges” with the royals.

“It’s great, she’s doing that, she’s just had a baby, and it’s all about Meghan, and it’s all rubbish frankly. It’s gone down so badly in this country,” Larcombe said. “She has left behind her a trail of devastation, on the Markle side, and now on the Windsor side. I don’t want to see her lecturing young mums having to go back to work from inside her $11million LA mansion.”

“This initiative is nonsense, she should be spending her time trying to build bridges with the very people that she and Harry have betrayed,” he added. “That’s what I think most people in this country believe.”

Meghan celebrated her fortieth birthday on August 4 by posting a video promoting her 40×40 initiative, which aims to help women return to the workplace as the world recovers from the pandemic.

“Because I’m turning 40 I’m asking 40 friends to donate 40 minutes of their time to help mentor a woman who is mobilizing back into the workforce,” Meghan said in the video. “Over two million in the US alone and tens of millions around the world have lost their jobs due to Covid, and I think if we all do it and all commit 40 minutes to some sort of act of service we can create a ripple effect.”

This comes after another royal expert said that Meghan “planned” to marry Prince Harry in order to boost her “reputation and international exposure.”

“She grew up with, with high ambitions and started to reach them as an actress – putting in the work, obviously not a terribly successful actress in terms of being well known internationally,” said royal expert Jonathan Sacerdoti.

“She then married Prince Harry and then she has become probably one of the most known or recognizable names in the world just by marrying somebody,” he added. “I think that shows an enormous amount of planning and ambition.”

“I don’t mean to be totally unromantic – maybe she did fall in love with Harry, maybe their relationship is also one of partnership and love in that respect,” Sacerdoti clarified. “But you don’t marry into the Royal Family, I think, without knowing what it’s going to do to your reputation and your exposure internationally. And then I think they’ve used that to their advantage, many would say is there is their right.”
