Matt Mauser, whose wife Christina was tragically killed in the same helicopter crash that killed NBA legend Kobe Bryant last year, just wowed the judges on “America’s Got Talent” with an incredible singing audition.

Entertainment Tonight reported that after taking the stage, Matt, 51, quietly introduced himself and told his heartbreaking story to the judges.

“On January 26, 2020, I lost my wife, in the same helicopter crash that killed Kobe Bryant,” Matt said, adding that he and his wife shared “a dreamy kind of life” together. The couple met back in 2004, when Christina saw Matt performing at a dive bar with his band.

“She was just this very humble, powerful, beautiful human being,” Matt told host Terry Crews before his audition.

Matt then opened up about the morning of the crash, saying, “When she left that day, she kissed me and she said, ‘I love you.’ And that was the last thing my wife ever said to me.”

After the crash, Matt said that his focus “immediately went to my children,” and he knows his wife “would want me to carry on, and she would want our kids to have happy lives.”

“I don’t know if it’s possible, but I’m gonna try,” he added as he fought back tears.

The three children of Matt and Christina cheered their dad on as he performed a soulful cover of Phil Collins’ 1984 single, “Against All Odds.” By the end, Matt was met with a standing ovation from both the audience and the judges.

“We felt your emotion,” judge Howie Mandel said afterwards. “If you’re able to move strangers, and we can feel it in our hearts… there aren’t words to describe it.”

“It was very emotional, very touching,” said judge Sofia Vergara. “Thank you. Thank you for being here.”

When asked by judge Simon Cowell what he is hoping to get out of “America’s Got Talent,” Matt replied, “I’d like to make sure that my children see that, in spite of the grief that we’ve been through this year, that that grief is not going to define who we are as a family. And that my children see that you have to find joy in life and you have to continue.”

“If this can in any way help my children see that you have to chase your dreams, then I’ll take it,” he continued.

Needless to say, Matt got four yeses from the judges, and he was sent on to the next round. Check out his amazing audition below.
