Prince William and Prince Harry reunited on Thursday for the unveiling of a statue of their mother Princess Diana at Kensington Palace. Despite the rift between the brothers, they managed to present a united front at the royal event.

Thursday would have been Diana’s 60th birthday had she not been killed in a car crash in Paris, France back in 1997 at the age of 36.

Entertainment Tonight reported that the statue of her was made by sculptor Ian Rank-Broadley, who was in attendance at the event along with garden designer Pip Morrison. It shows  Diana surrounded by three children who represent the universality and generational impact of her legendary philanthropic work.

While speaking to the attendees at the small event, the brothers said, “Today, on what would have been our mother’s 60th birthday, we remember her love, strength and character — qualities that made her a force for good around the world, changing countless lives for the better.”

“Every day we wish she were still with us, and our hope is that this statue will be seen forever as a symbol of her life and her legacy,” William and Harry added.

The event was closed to the public and press, but also attending were Diana’s siblings, Charles Spencer, Sarah McCorquodale and Jane Fellowes. In front of the statue, there is a paving stone with a passage from the poem “The Measure of a Man,” which was featured in the 2007 memorial service for the princess.

“These are the units to measure the worth,” the inscription reads. “Of this woman as a woman regardless of birth. Not what was her station? But had she a heart? How did she play her God-given part?”

The spot where the statue is located is significant to Harry, as it is where he announced his engagement to his wife Meghan Markle. This event was the first time that William and Harry were together in person since they reunited for the funeral of their grandfather Prince Philip back in April.

The brothers’ wives were not in attendance at the event, as Meghan only recently gave birth to her second child. William’s wife Kate Middleton backed out of the event after the guest list was cut down.
