Prince George only just turned 8 earlier this month, but it’s now being reported that his parents Prince William and Kate Middleton are already considering sending him to boarding school in the future.

“Kate and William are open to sending George to boarding school in the future and have already checked out a few, but they feel 8 is a little young and want to wait until he’s slightly older,” a source told US Weekly.

“George going to school is a decision the Cambridges will make as a family,” the source added. “They’d never force George to go unless he wants to and they feel it’s right.”

After hearing his parents’ stories about boarding school, George reportedly thinks it sounds “super fun.” The insider added that while George is “keen” on the idea of attending school away from home, “he’s settled at St. Thomas’ Battersea and has lots of friends there.”

Another source recently revealed that George is “aware” that he will one day be king.

“William’s already explained his future role to him, and he loves learning about his family in history classes,” this insider said. “William tries not to overwhelm him with too much information, but George is aware that there’s a lot more to being king than how the role is portrayed in Disney movies and children’s books.”

George reportedly had a great time celebrating his birthday earlier this month.

“It’s really nice for him because there’s no school at the moment. He’s on holiday,” another source said of George’s birthday. “Kate and William surprised George with a football cake. He received lots of lovely presents — a nature explorer set and a cool watch!”

George, who will one day inherit the throne, also received a call from the 95 year-old Queen.

“The queen Zoomed Prince George to wish him a happy birthday. She sent him a lovely gift as a surprise,” the insider said, adding that George “loves his great-grandmother so much.”

The source went on to say that George has “grown up over the last year” and really “likes doing things his way,” adding that the royal is “a confident and energetic little boy” who “loves reading, sports, puzzles and is super outdoorsy and adventurous.”
