It’s been one week since Meghan Markle and Prince Harry welcomed their second child, a baby girl they named Lilibet “Lili” Diana Mountbatten-Windsor. Now, new details have come to light about the birth.

Lili was born on June 4 at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital, which is just a short drive from Meghan and Harry’s mansion in Montecito, California.

“They looked at several hospitals before they settled on the Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital,” a source told People Magazine. “Meghan loves that it’s female-founded.”

The doctor who helped Meghan was Dr. Melissa Drake, with remote support from Dr. Gowri Motha in the U.K., who helped oversee the care when Meghan gave birth to her first child Archie at London’s Portland Hospital in 2019.

This hospital has a state-of-the-art childbirth center offers a family-centered, individualized approach to birth. It even includes a menu to order room service!

“Security and privacy were also priorities,” the source continued. “They had a big security team that the hospital needed to accommodate.”

“Meghan and Harry are both very thankful for how smoothly things went,” added the insider. “They could enjoy the birth in peace.”

Meghan and Harry will now each be embarking on a 20-week parental leave.

“Meghan and Harry are taking time off to focus on their family,” the source said. “They want to have a long summer break together as a family.”

“While the Duke and Duchess are on parental leave, Archewell will continue to do important work and publish stories on the site,” Meghan and Harry announced on their website.

Roya Nikkhah, royal editor of The Sunday Times, spoke out on Monday to address Meghan and Harry’s decision to both go on parental leave.

“It has been a turbulent year, I don’t think you can get away from that, but I think for Harry and Meghan, they’ve talked about how excited they were to complete their family,” Nikkhah said, according to The Express. “They’ve now got their much-longed for daughter. They’ll take a little bit of time away from the public spotlight just to have a bit of family time

“A royal baby is always a great time of joy, usually a national celebration over here,” she added. “I think it will land well and hopefully ease the path to a slightly less rocky year ahead.”
