Cressida Bonas is a model and actress who dated Prince Harry for around two years after being introduced to him by his cousin, Princess Eugenie.

While it was widely believed that Bonas and Harry did not succeed as a couple because she did not want a life of intrusion, a royal biographer recently claimed that they actually broke up for a different reason that is anything but flattering for the royal.

In his book “Battle of Brothers,” Robert Lacey claimed that Bonas had complained to friends had such a bad “neurosis” about the media that he complained about paparazzi even when there weren’t any. Lacey believes that Harry’s behavior may have started to take a toll.

“Even so, Cressida Bonas, his last serious girlfriend before Meghan Markle, came to feel he was a damaged and self-obsessed young man,” Lacey wrote, according to Daily Express. “‘No matter how educated, talented, rich or cool you believe you are,’ she posted enigmatically on her Instagram page, ‘how you treat people ultimately tells it all.’”

“She complained to friends that Harry has a neurosis about the media,” he added. “He’d rant and complain about paparazzi lurking where clearly there were none, she said.”

In his new mental health docuseries “The Me You Can’t See,” Harry talked about the alleged anxiety and panic attacks he got from being covered by the press.

“Before I even left the house I was sweating, I was in fight or flight mode,” Harry told Oprah Winfrey in the series. “Panic attacks, severe anxiety ‒ 28 to 32 was a nightmare time for me. I was freaking out every single time I got in a car and every single time I saw a camera.”

Harry was dating Bonas in that time period between those ages, so perhaps that’s the “neurosis” that she noticed in him. Despite their breakup, Harry and Bonas were on good enough terms that she attended his 2018 wedding to Meghan Markle, who he has since moved to California with.

Harry has attacked the media multiple times since stepping down from royal life last year, infamously saying that the First Amendment is “bonkers” to him in a recent interview.
