A royal expert is speaking out this week to say that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle shot themselves in the foot by launching an “unwindable battle” against the royal family.

The Express reported that royal commentator Robert Taylor said that Harry and Meghan have launched an “unwindable PR battle” against massive and ancient structure of the British Royal Family. The royal family has been around for hundreds of years, and has a seasoned PR team that is designed to see them through whatever crises come their way.

“One thing we’ve learned over the last few months is that both Harry and Meghan have experienced significant blows to their mental health,” Taylor said. “In Meghan’s case, suicide has even been mentioned. And regardless of how privileged and wealthy they may be, they have my complete sympathy.”

“But instead of concentrating on getting the help they so obviously need, they appear to be spending their energies on waging an unwindable PR battle,” he added. “The Windsors versus the Sussexes? For God’s sake, It’s Real Madrid versus Ashby-de-la-Zouch.”

Taylor went on to say that Queen Elizabeth not backing her grandson Harry in his latest battle with the BBC is a “turning point.” The BBC had reported that a palace source was quoted as saying that Harry and Meghan never asked the Queen permission to name their daughter Lilibet after her. Harry fired back by denying this and threatening the BBC with legal action, branding their report “false and defamatory.”

However, the Queen refused to publicly back Harry’s claim, which Taylor called “jaw-dropping.”

“This marks a new low in relations between the Sussexes and the wider royals,” he said. “If there’s one thing the Firm does well, it’s stick together. But no more. For the Queen to back the BBC over her grandson is jaw-dropping.”

However, Taylor went on to say that this all came about because of Meghan and Harry’s decision to drop the “never complain, never explain” mantra of the monarchy, which the Queen has stuck to for decades until now. Taylor feels that this has only backfired on Harry in the end.

“What’s it done for him? Plummeting public respect and an ever-widening gulf with his own family,” the royal expert said.
