Nearly one year after Meghan Markle and her longtime best friend Jessica Mulroney, a Canadian stylist, had a very public falling out, the latter has posted a cryptic message online about finding “better friends.”

US Weekly reported that Mulroney took to her Instagram Stories on Sunday to share and inspirational quote.

“Life changes,” the quote read. “You lose love. You lose friends. You lose pieces of yourself that you never imagined would be gone.”

“And then, without even realizing it, those pieces come back,” the quote continued. “New love enters. Better friends come along. And a stronger, wiser you, is staring back in the mirror.”

While Mulroney did not offer any additional commentary, many interpreted this to be about her falling out with Meghan. The two women had been best friends for years before Mulroney found herself embroiled in a racially charged feud with the black blogger Sasha Exeter, who accused her of exhibiting “textbook white privilege.”

Mulroney later backed down and apologized, saying that she’d watched her “closest friend” Meghan experience racism “front and center” since she joined the British royal family in May of 2018. A source said at the time that Mulroney dragging their friendship into her scandal was “hugely offensive to Meghan.”

“Of course Meghan is supportive of Jessica, as she is with all of her friends,” added a second source at the time. “But it’s a bit off-putting when Jessica seemingly uses their friendship for headlines. Meghan is very aware when people in her life do this.”

Mulroney suffered some serious consequences in the wake of this scandal, as she lost her partnership with the Canadian department store Hudson’s and was fired from CTV’s “I Do, Redo.” She also stepped away from her gig hosting a recurring fashion segment on “Good Morning America.”

A source said last September that Meghan “didn’t want to cut Jessica out of her life completely,” and that they were “still friendly but not as close as before.”

Earlier this year, Mulroney publicly defended Meghan after she was accused of bullying her royal aides.

“I don’t know that anyone has ever had to deal with the pressure, the politics and the press like this woman,” Mulroney wrote on Instagram alongside a throwback photo of herself with Meghan. “In the face of it all, I have never seen her waver from kindness, empathy and love.
