The late night television host James Corden spoke out this past week to talk about how hard it has been for him to lose weight and get fit during an appearance on SiriusXM’s “The Howard Stern Show.”

Corden hadn’t appeared on the show since 2019, and host Howard Stern told him that he “looks like a new man” given his weight loss. Corden then revealed that he’s recently lost 35 pounds.

“I feel like I’m getting better,” he said. “I’m trying, but I feel like there’s still a way to go.”

When Stern asked Corden if he’s been working out, the late night host replied, “I’m trying to, but I suck at it. I’m so bad at it. It’s terrible.”

“There are so few hours in the day that are just my own, do you know what I mean?” Corden said. “I’ve got three young kids. We have the show and all these things. I feel like, ‘Hang on a minute. I’ve got an hour here where I’m on my own, and I’m doing something that I absolutely hate. I should just be lying down, you know?”

Corden also said that he’s given up trying to work with personal trainers because of frustrations he’s had with them in the past.

“I don’t trust them,” Corden explained. “I don’t think they want me to lose weight quickly.”

Corden then guessed that he’s “burned through” around 75 personal trainers. He added that he’s told personal trainers in the past that he wants to lose weight fast, but found that after they’d pumped him up mentally, he didn’t get the results that he wanted.

“And then I realized, ‘Oh, you’re paid by the hour,'” Corden said. “Of course you don’t want me to shift this quickly.”

Later in the interview, Corden revealed that while he recently bought “masses of clothes” for his slimmed down figure, he’s also been going through his previous wardrobe to wear outfits that he couldn’t wear before.

“For some time now, I’ve had three separate wardrobes, three sections of a closet,” he said. “So ‘You’re an Embarrassment,’ there’s a section that says ‘You’ve Gotta Do Better’ and there’s a section that says ‘Yeah Baby, You’re Really Doing This.'”

“And that [embarrassment section] on the far right has not been used in a while, so I’m quite enjoying dipping into some of those [other] clothes,” Corden added. “But no, I’ve not bought masses of clothes. I’m hopeful there’s still a way to go.”
