The Academy Award-winning Hollywood star Robert Duvall turned 90 years-old earlier this year, and these days, he’s doing better than ever.

Duvall has made over 85 films and been married four times, with three of the marriages ending in divorce. He has even admitted slyly “I guess I can be convicted of all” the seven deadly sins, including “wrath over certain directors.”

Despite his advanced age, Duvall has surprisingly few regrets when looking back at his life.

“He’s really achieved so much, and he’s proud of so many things he’s done, from his charitable work to winning the Oscar for [the 1983 film] Tender Mercies,” an insider told Closer Weekly. “He’s grateful for a lot, and tells his friends that he’s had an incredible life.”

The source went on to say that while Duvall has never had children, he’s made a family with his wife of 15 years, Luciana Pedraza, 49.

Born in Annapolis, Maryland, Duvall spent much of his formative years on his uncle’s ranch in Montana.

“I can’t remember stuff from two weeks ago sometimes, but I remember things specifically from my uncle’s ranch…when I was 12 or 13,” Duvall said. “It was just terrific.”

Duvall loved life on the ranch so much that he maintains that had he not gotten interested in acting, he would have become a cowboy.

After serving in the Army during the Korean War, Duvall got the acting bug and moved to New York City. There, he quickly became friends with fellow acting students Dustin Hoffman and Gene Hackman, whom he says once “offered me his last $300, which I didn’t take.” The three of them keep in touch to this day.

“They went through the highs and lows together as struggling actors,” the insider explained. “Fame didn’t change their friendship.”

Duvall has described his three failed marriages as being “part of the process of life,” admitting that he is difficult to get along with at times.

“When I met my current wife — she’s much younger than I — we met in Argentina on the street, by chance,” Duvall said of Pedraza, who he married in 2005. “I figured, why not? [And] it worked out.”

These days, Duvall is happiest on the Virginia ranch he shares with his wife.

“One of their favorite pastimes is going on lengthy walks,” said the source. “The ranch has a vegetable garden, a beautiful lake, horses and lots of wildlife. There’s so much land, you could get lost there. It’s given Robert a real sense of peace.”
