Last week, we reported that Bill and Melinda Gates shocked the world when they announced that they are divorcing after 27 years of marriage. Now, it’s been revealed that Bill had admitted to his golf buddies that his marriage to Melinda was “loveless” prior to their divorce filing.

“Bill did talk to his close friends on the golf course,” a source told The New York Post. “He told them a while back that the marriage was loveless, that it had been over for some time and they were living separate lives.”

Bill is such a devoted golfer that he married Melinda next to the par-3, 12th hole on the golf course at the Manele Bay Hotel in Hawaii.

Another source said that the decision to get a divorce was difficult on Melinda due to her strong Roman Catholic faith.

“She wants to get an annulment from the Vatican following the civil divorce, I’m told,” said another source who has worked with Melinda.

Melinda was reportedly very upset about the friendship her husband had with the late billionaire pedophile Jeffrey Epstein.

“The split is no surprise to me,” said a third source. “And any friendship with Epstein would have been a bone of contention for Melinda. There is no way that Melinda would have wanted to spend time with Epstein.”

A spokesperson for Bill admitted in 2019 that he had met with Epstein multiple times to discuss philanthropy.

“Bill Gates regrets ever meeting with Epstein and recognizes it was an error in judgment to do so,” the spokesperson said.

This comes one week after Bill and Melinda announced that they are divorcing, as their marriage is “irretrievably broken.”

“After a great deal of thought and a lot of work on our relationship, we have made the decision to end our marriage,” they said in a statement. “Over the last 27 years, we have raised three incredible children and built a foundation that works all over the world to enable all people to lead healthy, productive lives.”

“We continue to share a belief in that mission and will continue our work together at the foundation, but we no longer believe we can grow together as a couple in this next phase of our lives,” their statement concluded. “We ask for space and privacy for our family as we begin to navigate this new life.”
