Six days after Prince Philip passed away at Windsor Castle at the age of 99, his true feelings about his grandson Prince Harry have been revealed.

Despite Harry and his wife Meghan Markle’s explosive tell-all interview about the royal family last month, sources say that Philip still loved his grandson very much.

“[Philip] and Harry had a very close relationship,” a source told US Weekly. “Whilst they may not have been able to communicate during the final year or so of his life, Philip thought extremely fondly of his grandson and vice versa.”

Harry traveled back to the United Kingdom for the first time in over a year to attend his grandfather’s funeral this coming Saturday, arriving there last Sunday. This came after it was reported that Harry feels saddened that he was not around for Philip’s final days.

“Harry feels guilty for not being there to say goodbye to Prince Philip in person,” the insider said.

After Philip’s death, Harry released a statement to honor him.

“My grandfather was a man of service, honour and great humour. He was authentically himself, with a seriously sharp wit, and could hold the attention of any room due to his charm — and also because you never knew what he might say next,” he said.

“He will be remembered as the longest reigning consort to the Monarch, a decorated serviceman, a Prince and a Duke,” Harry added. “But to me, like many of you who have lost a loved one or grandparent over the pain of this past year, he was my grandpa: master of the barbecue, legend of banter, and cheeky right ‘til the end.”

Meghan will not be attending Philip’s funeral, as she has been advised by doctors not to travel right now due to the fact that she is about six months pregnant with her and Harry’s second child. Sources have said that Harry is struggling with missing his wife and leaving her at home alone at this point in her pregnancy.

“He’s already really missing Meghan and Archie and has been FaceTiming them every day to check in,” another insider told US Weekly. “He actually speaks to Meghan a few times a day because he worries [about] leaving her when she’s so far along in her pregnancy.”
