Earlier this week, we reported that Meghan Markle had been caught in an apparent lie during her interview with Oprah Winfrey last month, as the Archbishop spoke out to say that their legal wedding was not actually three days before the televised one as they had claimed.

Now, another claim that Meghan made in her tell-all interview is being disputed, as a biographer of Princess Diana is alleging that she was often spotted “out and about” despite claiming to Oprah that she was not allowed out as a royal.

Fox News reported that during her interview, Meghan claimed that her passport, driver’s license and keys were taken away from her when she became a royal. She also alleged that she was required to get permission just to do everyday things.

While appearing on “Royally Obsessed” podcast, however, Diana’s biographer Andrew Morton called this claim into question. In the podcast, Morton was asked if he thinks Meghan’s experience as a royal was similar to Diana’s.

“It was and it wasn’t,” Morton replied. “When I was watching the interview, I was ticking off ‘yes, sense of isolation,’ ‘yes, sense of desperation’… exactly what Diana was saying to me.”

“But then again, well, friends of mine have seen Meghan walking from Whole Foods supermarket on Kensington High Street with bags of food back to Kensington Palace,” he added. “It didn’t seem too much like a prison. Other friends have seen her out and about with friends at restaurants, so she seems, to me, to have led a normal life.”

Morton then cited the fact that in February of 2019, Meghan infamously flew out to New York City on a private jet to celebrate her baby shower ahead of her son Archie’s birth,  adding that she made overseas trips “without wearing handcuffs.”

“So there’s some inconsistency but also a similarity with Diana as well,” he said. “It was a complex interview and it has left many unresolved questions.”

This came after Meghan claimed to Oprah that as a royal, she left the house only twice in four months.

“I am everywhere but I am nowhere,” Meghan alleged. “I continued to say to people, ‘I know there is an obsession with how things look but has anyone talked about how it feels? Because right now I could not feel lonelier.’”
