A royal expert is speaking out this week to say that Kate Middleton was worried about Prince Harry’s relationship with Meghan Markle from the beginning because the former American actress “appeared embarrassed” of her family and seemed to have a bizarre relationship with her father and siblings.

Ingrid Seward told The Sun that Kate and Prince William were very close to Harry before he fell in love with Meghan very quickly. William reportedly “p***ed off” Harry by telling him not to rush things with “the girl,” according to “Finding Freedom” authors Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand.

Kate’s fears were centered around Meghan’s family, as she found her strange relationship with them to be “a bit worrying,” according to Seward.

“She could not understand why Harry had never met his future father-in-law, nor why Meghan, who Harry assured was The One and ‘ticked all his boxes,’ appeared embarrassed about her family and unwilling to speak about them apart from her mother,” the royal expert said.

Meghan is now estranged from her father and half siblings, who have all repeatedly spoke out against her in the press since her wedding. The relationship between Meghan and Kate quickly soured as well.

“Both William and Kate wanted to like Meghan if for no other reason than Harry was so madly in love,” Seward continued. “But the women had little in common beyond some polite chatter and their shared interest in tennis.”

Things only got worse after Meghan and Harry’s explosive tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey last month.

“Now, after all that has happened, Kate is burdened with the task of peacemaker,” Seward said. “Her huge strength and inner resolve will stand her in good stead, but mending this broken relationship might be the one thing she cannot conquer.”

This comes after royal expert Sarah Vine told Mail+’s Palace Confidential that unlike Meghan, Kate is “all about show and not tell.”

“She is the antithesis of Meghan. There are echoes of Philip in Kate,” Vine said. “She is in it for the long game, she does not expect any immediate reward.”

Vine went on to talk about all the work that Kate has done behind the scenes over the past decade to get her to where she is today.

“She has very slowly but surely built up her reputation – not just with the family, I think, but also with the public,” Vine explained of Kate. “And she is all about the duty and all about the family and trying to do what’s best for everybody.”
