It has just been revealed that during Prince Harry’s time in the United Kingdom for Prince Philip’s funeral last week, he met privately with Queen Elizabeth on at least two separate occasions.

This was confirmed by royal expert Omid Scobie, who wrote for Harper’s Bazaar that Harry has an “unwavering” amount of love and support for the Queen.

“The love and respect he has for his grandmother will always be unwavering,” a source said.

While not much is known about how their meetings went, the fact that the monarch met with him at all indicates that she wants to keep an open dialogue with him even after his explosive tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey last month.

Harry also met privately with Prince Charles, Prince William, and Kate Middleton in a summit at Frogmore Cottage after Philip’s funeral last Saturday. However, a source told Scobie that this meeting did not heal the rift within the royal family, as their problems were not “addressed.”

“This trip was to honour the life of his grandfather and support his grandmother and relatives,” the source said. “It was very much a family-focused period of time. Saturday broke the ice for future conversations but outstanding issues have not been addressed at any great length. The family simply put their issues to one side to focus on what mattered.”

Harry raised some eyebrows when he flew back to California on Tuesday, choosing not to stay one more day for the Queen’s 95th birthday on Wednesday. Page Six reported that the “conflicted” Harry decided that it was more important to travel home to California to see his pregnant wife Meghan Markle on Tuesday. The 36 year-old royal reportedly flew back to California on an American Airlines that landed on Tuesday afternoon, and he was then driven to his mansion in Montecito.

This birthday was a difficult one for the Queen, as it comes less than two weeks after she lost her husband of 73 years.

“I have, on the occasion of my 95th birthday today, received many messages of good wishes, which I very much appreciate. While as a family we are in a period of great sadness, it has been a comfort to us all to see and to hear the tributes paid to my husband, from those within the United Kingdom, the Commonwealth and around the world,” she said in a statement to mark her birthday.

“My family and I would like to thank you for all the support and kindness shown to us in recent days,” the Queen added. “We have been deeply touched, and continue to be reminded that Philip had such an extraordinary impact on countless people throughout his life.”
