In the crazy world of Hollywood, it’s rare to find a star with a marriage that has stood the test of time. That’s what makes Tom Selleck’s 33-year marriage to his wife Jillie Mack so special!

“I get up before Jillie and put on the teakettle, so when she gets up, her tea water is hot,” Selleck told Closer Weekly. “I think I’m pretty romantic.”

Selleck and Mack will be celebrating their 34th wedding anniversary this summer, and they are just as in love as ever.

“They still love spending time together,” a family friend said. “They like the simple life.”

The couple live in Hidden Valley, California on a 65-acre ranch, where they grow avocados and raise horses. The ranch was once owned by Dean Martin, and Selleck bought it in 1988, after finishing his run on the hit show “Magnum P.I.”

“He knew he needed to buy back his anonymity, to replenish the soul,” explains Mack, who was born in Wiltshire, England.

Since buying the ranch, Selleck has never looked back.

“I quit Magnum to have a family,” said Selleck, who became a father to daughter Hannah the same year. “It took a long time to get off the train, but I try very hard to have balance, and this ranch has helped me do that.”

Though Selleck often carries out the physically difficult “grunt work” that comes with running a ranch, Mack takes over when he’s in New York filming his show “Blue Bloods.”

“We’re both independent. There is a lot of yin and yang in us,” said Selleck, who added that he is the quieter one in the relationship, while Mack is more outgoing.

“Jillie has this sort of joie de vivre, this effervescent quality that just lights up a room,” he said lovingly. “Apart from being my wife, she’s my friend.”

Though Mack gave up her career as a professional dancer and actress when she married Selleck, those close to her says she has no regrets.

“Jillie loves her life! Her happiness is her animals. She has around five dogs, which she speaks to like they are humans, and the horses,” the friend said. “And the ranch is just magical. They grow every fruit and vegetable imaginable. There are avocado trees, orchards and a pond. Jillie and Tom have everything they need at the ranch.”

These days, the couple’s daughter Hannah is an equestrian jumping champion who is also studying for an MBA.

“Tom works to maintain their lifestyle, but he wants Hannah to have something to fall back on,” the family friend explained. “Her equestrian career is so expensive — her horses are $300,000 each. Tom will pay for them because that is her career, but he doesn’t spoil Hannah with material things.”

Though Selleck still enjoys working on “Blue Bloods,” he is also looking forward to when the series ends, as he will be able to spend more time with the love of his life on their ranch.

“Relationships are tricky, but if you are in love with somebody and like them, you’ve got a chance at success,” Tom said. “You become true partners.”
