The Food Network star Sandra Lee nearly became the victim of a home invasion after a masked intruder tried to break into her home.

People Magazine reported that it was just revealed this week that a masked intruder tried to force his way into Lee’s home in Malibu, California on February 11. The incident was captured on surveillance footage that shows a masked individual trying to break into Lee’s home at about 12:10 a.m., and then again at 12:30 a.m.

Though Lee, 54, was not home at the time of the incident, sources close to her have said that she was left shaken by it. One insider said that Lee “has hired full-time security and personal protection” since last month’s break-in attempt. This source went on to add that “the sheriffs department has video of the masked assailant and is doing a full investigation.”

Though the intruder was masked, police believe that he is Asian based on doorbell camera footage that they have obtained, and Lee has said that she does not recognize the man. Thankfully, her home was not breached, and nothing was stolen from it.

This comes after a very difficult year for Lee. The break-in attempt occurred less than one week after Lee revealed that one-of-a-kind pieces from her wardrobe had been stolen from a storage unit that she owns. Items that were stolen included a handmade Bob Mackie frock worn by Cher on “The Sonny and Cher Show.”

In December, Lee announced that she was moving out of the New York home that she stated with her former partner Governor Andrew Cuomo, who she dated for fourteen years, and that she would be moving to California. The experience of moving out of her Westchester home appeared to be a difficult one for her, as she admitted she has decided to “get back to me” following an emotional few days of packing.

Lee also said at the time that while she is “very fortunate” in life, “there are times when we all have to go through the grief and the pain the gift of living will surely bring.”

Hopefully, things will turn around for Lee, and whoever tried to break into her home is apprehended by authorities.
