A 17 year-old Chick-fil-A employee from Wisconsin recently won a car at a company Christmas party raffle, and she made the incredible decision to give it to a coworker who needed it more than she did.

Haley Bridges was aware that her 19 year-old coworker Hokule’a Taniguchi was commuting to work on a bicycle.

“I was biking here every morning, so it was a little rough,” Taniguchi told Fox11. “Because I’m from Hawaii, I was like, ‘It’s kinda cold!'”

Taniguchi managed to tough it out anyway, but she had no idea just how generous her coworker was.

“It was kinda like the rumor at Chick-fil-A that there’s gonna be a car at the giveaway,” Bridges said. “We all put one in and we’re like, ‘If one of us gets it, it’s gonna go to her, like no matter what.’ It was not a second thought.”

Bridges could not believe her ears when she heard that she had won the car.

“My heart felt as if it was racing and we both stood up and ran to each other,” she recalled. “Everyone in the room felt like they were gone, it felt as if it was just us two in the moment. We hugged each other hard and cried so much. Everyone else was either crying or clapping. We all had a big group hug with everyone near us and it felt so unreal experiencing this.”

Taniguchi was overwhelmed when she learned that Bridges was actually giving her the car.

“I really just started crying, because I was so happy and I was like, ‘Oh my gosh! I can’t believe this is real!’” she said.

Since receiving the car, Taniguchi’s life has changed for the better.

“Now I can go grocery shopping. I can like go to work like five minutes before now, instead of like two hours earlier, just to get here on time,” Taniguchi said. “There’s a million more opportunities and possibilities for me now!”

Given all of the darkness in the world right now, it’s easy to forget that there are still good people out there doing kind things for others. God bless Bridges for restoring our faith in humanity with this incredible act of kindness!
