Earlier this month, we reported that it had just been revealed that the legendary rocker Bruce Springsteen had been arrested for DWI back in November. Now, he’s learned his fate in this case, as it’s been confirmed that his DWI and reckless driving charges will be dismissed.

In a virtual hearing that took place on Wednesday, Springsteen plead guilty to consuming alcohol in a closed area at the Gateway National Recreation Area in Sandy Hook, New Jersey three months ago. For this charge, the 71 year-old “Born In The U.S.A.” singer will need to pay a $500 fine.

Entertainment Tonight reported that when it comes to the DWI and reckless driving charges, Assistant U.S. Attorney Adam Baker said that the government “cannot sustain its burden of proof.”

“The blood alcohol reading was .02, which as the court is aware, is well under the state limit of .08,” he said.

Springsteen’s lawyer Mitchell Ansell of Ansell, Grimm & Aaron spoke out to say that the singer is pleased with the outcome of this case.

“Mr. Springsteen is pleased with the outcome of today’s court appearance,” Ansell said. “The prosecutor was unable to provide the necessary evidence and facts as it related to the charge of Driving under the Influence (DUI) and Reckless Driving and therefore, dismissed both of those charges.”

“Mr Springsteen, who has no previous criminal record of any kind, voluntarily pleaded guilty to a violation of consuming an alcoholic beverage in a closed area, agreeing to a fine of $500,” he continued. “We want to thank the Court and will have no further comment at this time.”

A park ranger named R. L. Hayes had previously opened up about Springsteen’s arrest.

“Springsteen refused to take a preliminary breath test (PBT), despite signs of intoxication namely after testing his gaze and walk and turn tests,” claimed a park ranger named R. L. Hayes.

The ranger went on to allege that he witnessed Springsteen “consume a shot of Patron tequila” before getting on his motorcycle to “start the engine.” He then informed the rocker that drinking on the park premises “is prohibited.”

“The Patron bottle that the shot was poured out of was completely empty (750ml),” the ranger wrote in the document. “I asked Springsteen if he was leaving and he confirmed that he was going to drive out of the park.”

“[He] smelt strongly of alcohol coming off his person and had glassy eyes,” Hayes added, going on to say that Springsteen “claimed that he had two shots of tequila in the last 20 minutes.”
