A royal expert has spoken out to warn Meghan Markle that she will be “snubbing” the royal family  if she does not travel to the United Kingdom with her husband Prince Harry this coming summer. This comes after we reported that it is believed that Meghan will not be joining Harry for his upcoming trip home to see his family.

“This is a personal and practical decision by the couple, but it would certainly help officials navigate what is likely to be a fairly tricky situation,” one source said of the situation.

Royal author Nigel Cawthrone told The Mirror that Meghan not going on the trip will only make tensions worse within the royal family.

“If Meghan decided not to attend for no reason it would indeed be a snub to her royal in-laws and mark a nadir in the relations between the royal family and the Sussexes,” said Cawthrone, who has written a book about Prince Andrew.

The insiders said that Meghan’s decision not to go with Harry was for “personal and practical” reasons and is not in any way being construed as a “snub.” It had previously been reported that both Harry and Meghan would be traveling to the U.K. in June for royal events that included Prince Philip’s 100th birthday celebrations and the Trooping The Colour, the official celebration of the Queen’s 95th birthday.

“It should be strongly stressed that there is still an element of uncertainty about this because of the unpredictable Covid situation, but the understanding is the duke is more than likely to come back on his own,” a source said.

“Her Majesty made very clear when they left the UK that Harry and Meghan were still much loved members of her own family and would be very welcome to attend family events. That still holds true,” another insider added. “Practically, however, it comes with the need for a certain amount of diplomacy. There is still a great deal of distance between Harry and many family members, particularly his brother. No one wants a repeat of the Commonwealth Service.”

Meghan and Harry shocked the world last year when they stepped down as senior royals and moved across the world to California.
