New reports are coming in stating that the fashion designer husband of Lori Loughlin, who is nearly two months into a five month prison sentence for his role in the college admissions scandal, is struggling in prison after spending the first month of his sentence in solitary confinement.

Mossimo Giannulli, 57, was reportedly placed in solitary confinement due to an outbreak of COVID-19 at USP Lompoc, where he is serving out his sentence on charges related to him allegedly paying $500,000 in bribe money to have his two daughters admitted to the University of Southern California as members of the crew team, even though neither girl had ever rowed before.

“He has spent the first month entirely alone, apart from when he’s allowed out to take a shower,” a family source told Daily Mail. “Even though he was told he would be held in the minimum-security camp, he’s been put in the medium security jail which houses dangerous felons and has been kept in solitary.”

“It’s doing huge damage to him mentally and physically,” the insider aded. “It’s wrong to do this to a completely non-violent offender.”

The source went on to add that Giannulli will likely spend at least another month completely alone.

“The solitary is going to continue for at least another 30 days but could be more. I don’t know how he’s going to cope with it,” the insider said. “His family are desperately worried about his mental health and it’s becoming increasingly hard for them as well.”

Giannulli is not due to be released until April 17, and once he’s out of prison, he’ll need to pay a $250,000 fine and perform 250 hours of community service. Loughlin was released after serving two months in prison on December 28, and she has been keeping a low profile since getting out. Another insider told Entertainment Tonight that prison was “unlike anything Lori has ever experienced in her life,” and heading home “was like a dream come true.”

“Lori’s homecoming was perfect. Her girls put together a special homecoming with flowers, welcome home decorations and her favorite foods,”  the source said. “She was emotionally overwhelmed by how much she missed them and still has to remind herself that if anything good came out of all this it’s their closeness and renewed faith in their tight-knit family.”

“She has told friends that finally being home is the best holiday gift she could ever ask for, and now her focus is counting the days until her husband is home,” the insider continued. “Lori spent her first week [at home] appreciating every minute of settling in and spending time with her girls. Now that she is safe at home and getting back into her routine, she is finding it very difficult to not to worry about Mossimo.”
