Earlier this week, we reported that former “Fuller House” star Lori Loughlin was released from prison after serving two months for her role in the college admissions scandal. Now, a source has come forward to say that while Loughlin is focusing on family right now, her mind is also on launching her comeback in Hollywood.
Though Loughlin was released on Monday, her husband Mossimo Giannulli is just six weeks into his five month sentence for his own role in the college admissions scandal.
“Lori is still in the moment of enjoying being back at home,” the source told People Magazine. “The next big focus is of course to have Mossimo back home. No one can visit him in prison, because of COVID. He stays in touch with his family via phone calls. It seems Lori will put everything on hold until Mossimo is home. She isn’t really thinking about anything else.”
“She previously expressed that she would love to act again at some point,” the insider added. “She always loved her career. She loves filming and creating movies. The only focus right now though is to reunite with Mossimo.”
Loughlin, 56, rose to fame as Aunt Becky in the 1980s and 1990s sitcom “Full House,” and she most recently reprised the role in the Netflix reboot of the show called “Fuller House.” She also had a successful and lucrative career appearing in numerous Hallmark Channel movies before the college admissions scandal broke.
Everything changed for Loughlin after she was accused of paying $500,000 in bribe money to have her two daughters admitted to the University of Southern California as members of the crew team, even though neither girl had ever rowed before. Loughlin and her husband fought the charges for over a year before pleading guilty earlier this year, and the actress became emotional as she addressed the judge during her sentencing.
“I made an awful decision. I went along with a plan to give my daughters an unfair advantage in the college admissions process and in doing so I ignored my intuition and allowed myself to be swayed from my moral compass,” Loughlin said. “I have great faith in God, and I believe in redemption and I will do everything in my power to redeem myself and use this experience as a catalyst to do good.”
Loughlin was released from prison on Monday, and sources said that she immediately had an emotional reunion with her two daughters.
“It’s the end of a very long ordeal,” a source said, adding that Loughlin “seems beyond relieved that she can put her prison sentence behind her.”
“It’s the most stressful thing she has ever dealt with,” the insider continued. “She plans on spending New Year’s with Olivia and Bella.”
