Back in October, the singers Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton finally got engaged after dating for five years. Now, the feelings of her three young sons that she had with her ex-husband Gavin Rossdale have been revealed when it comes to this engagement.

An insider told Closer Weekly that Stefani’s sons Kingston, Zuma and Apollo “can’t wait” for her to marry Shelton, adding that “he already had a close bond with the boys.” Shelton, 44, has reportedly spent a lot of time with his 51 year-old fiancee’s sons over the past five years.

“Blake treats Gwen’s kids like they’re his own,” the insider explained “He adores them, and they love spending time with him. Blake’s relationship with the kids won’t change much once he officially becomes a stepdad.”

Kingston, 14, Zuma, 12, and Apollo, 6, have spent lots of time on Shelton’s ranch in Oklahoma, so it’s not surprising that he’s developed such a close bond with them. He’s previously admitted that he was surprised by the amount of “responsibility” that comes with his new role as stepfather to three boys.

“That’s a scary moment for me, because it’s one thing for me to be with the kids all the time and be their buddy … but you do have to consider after a while that they start to listen to things that you say and there’s a lot of responsibility that comes with that,” Shelton said back in July.

This is not to say that Shelton is not having fun with the three boys, as he added, “We’ve been doing things that I wished I had time to do for the last 20 years I guess.”

This comes after a source told US Weekly that Shelton asked Stefani’s three sons for permission before he proposed to their mother.

“Blake told her boys that he wanted to propose and asked their permission,” said a source close to Stefani. “Her family very much approves of him. He’s an amazing partner and a great extra dad to the boys. Gwen is ecstatic. The proposal was a surprise.”

Stefani got more good news earlier this week when her marriage to Rossdale was annulled by the Catholic Church. Though Shelton and Stefani have had to delay their wedding planning because of COVID-19, it certainly seems like they have a great future ahead of them!
