The heartwarming stories coming out of this past year are so refreshing in light of the hardships experienced due to the coronavirus pandemic. During this time of fear and uncertainty, many have stepped up to care for one another in incredible ways.

One of those stories has gone viral, and it’s of a gas station worker in Fresno and a homeless man named Salvador Tafi Saha Jr. On December 16, Akram Mohsin shared a video to the social media platform TikTok of an interaction he had with Salvador.

Mohsin has gathered a massive following on TikTok for the videos he posts of his interactions with customers, many of them homeless. On this particular day, Saha, who is a father of two, came into Mohsin’s store to buy some food and a cigar before heading to get his photo I.D.

All Mr. Saha had to his name was $5.61. But what he didn’t know was that Mr. Mohsin had been receiving cash app donations from his followers, money he gives directly to those who came into his store in need. Mohsin had just received a $100 cash donation from one of his followers, so when Salvador mentioned his he was down to his las dollars, Mohsin surprised him by telling him to keep his money and that he was giving him the $100 to buy as much food as he wanted and to cover the cost of his new I.D.

The video shows a clearly stunned Saha who could barely convey his thoughts and emotions: “God is good,” he tells Mohsin. “I’ve been praying a lot. Thank you, man. I didn’t know about you. I just … found out about you. You’re a good man, dude. You’re a good man. God bless you.”

Mohsin posted another video five days later when Saha came back into his store to show him the I.D. he was able to get with the money Akram gave to him. “I told you, if it wasn’t for you, you helped me a lot,” Saha tells him. “Thank you, man, [from] the bottom of my heart.”

Salvador is desperately trying to change his homeless status and stopped by the gas station again to show Akram he now has his own phone, and Mohsin surprised him once again, but this time with $200 cash.

One of the sweetest videos captured by Mohsin was after he saw Salvador standing outside with a sign that read “will work 4 glasses” and “clean windows $1.” Saha tells Mohsin he made $11 that day, but that the glasses he needs cost $150 at Walmart. The gas station worker, through the generosity of the TikTok community, gifted Saha $500 telling him to go get a hotel room for the night and to go pick up his new glasses.

Salvador Tafi Saha Jr. immediately breaks down, overwhelmed by the incredible kindness and investment Akram Mohsin has made into his life. “I am tomorrow,” he tells Mohsin. “I’m going to get my glasses [sic] … Oh my God.”

The moment, shown below, has been viewed over 17 million times on TikTok.

In an interview with local news station KSEE, Mohsin shares: “It’s a blessing to [the customers],” he said. “I’m happy to be the middle man between it all. It’s just really good and nice to see people engaging in that kind of stuff.”
